The Art of Neighboring | Week 1 — Who Is My Neighbor?

It's the question that started it all. A man who knew the law asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" — and he asked it hoping for a boundary line. Something manageable. Something that would let him off the hook for everyone outside it.

Jesus answered with a story instead.

This week, Pastor Mike Lyle opens our new series with the question underneath the question: not who counts as my neighbor, but am I willing to be one? We'll look at how quickly the call to love our neighbor gets abstracted into something safely distant, and what happens when we bring it back down to the street we actually live on.

The hard part isn't understanding this command. It's that most of us can't name the people who live closest to us. That's where the series begins.
